What has to change about my home region that would make me stay or even return? Young people from Eastern Germany between 14 and 21 are seeking answers to this crucial question set up by “Visionen für Regionen” – a call for ideas (or ideas competition) about possible future scenarios for regions suffering from demographic change. To manage the task, participants are equipped with a case full of material for a successful ideas workshop and instructions by the nexus institute. The workshops are to lead from discovered visions to a specific contribution to the competition.
 A jury awards the best and most creative entries with prizes. Primarily in charge of the competition is the coordination board “Perspektiven für junge Menschen” (perspectives for young people) within the Democratic Youth Foundation (Stiftung Demokratische Jugend). The competition is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Families, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend - BMFSFJ) and spread through organizations working with young people. Fixed dates: Closing date for participants was October 10th 2008, entry deadline for submissions was December 15th 2008, the award show was on March 27th 2009 in Berlin.
