The Senate of the State of Berlin is seeking to promote citizens’ participation as a foundation of political decision-making and to involve citizens in Berlin’s development. Crucial to achieving this is the development of guidelines for the participation of citizens in urban development. As early as June 2017, the requirements for these guidelines were publicly discussed at a city forum. In November 2017, a working committee was formed, which consisted of citizens, Berlin politicians, and the administrators who are in charge of developing the guidelines. Citizens will be involved in the participation process both online at mein.Berlin.de and in local workshops.

The aim of the communicative support is to involve Berliners and participants interested in urban society and to inform them about the process of developing guidelines. nexus, together with its partners MediaCompany and Liquid Democracy, has been commissioned to develop a communication concept and to implement it in close coordination with the working committee and the client. nexus is also involved in accompanying the overall process.
