The development and testing of sustainable business and delivery models for local logistics services is the goal of Distribut(e) and addresses this through the establishment of neighbourhood-based shared eLogistics at Klausenerplatz and Mierendorff Island in Berlin. Distribut(e) has many positive implications: Increased efficiency in delivery on the “last mile”, reduction of local delivery traffic and its emissions, promotion of local production chains, activation of local actors (especially SMEs), identification of new sharing and value-in-use concepts and, as a result, an increase in the quality of life in neighbourhoods. Distribut(e) uses IT to order local goods, manage scheduled and special deliveries and organise regular tours. One focus is on low-threshold service offers, which are developed in Urban Design Thinking and integrated into the operating model. nexus is particularly responsible for the further development of online participation tools and contributes with its work to the sub-projects, especially to the accompaniment of the Urban Labs and to the pilot applications of the mobility and logistics solutions.

The PIAZZA platform with the FlashPoll mobile app is the digital communication medium in the work process, where concepts and prototypes are presented online, results are prepared and visualised, and suggestions are collected, commented on and evaluated. The combination of online and offline formats enables Distribut(e) to address and involve a broad user base. Join the discussion on the online platform PIAZZA and contribute your ideas on cargo bikes in the neighbourhood! Distribute rents out cargo bikes at two locations in Charlottenburg. Two different models have been available free of charge for delivery and transport trips since April 2018.
