With the development of the climate adaptation concept, the district of Ostallgäu and the city of Kaufbeuren are some of the first in Bavaria to pursue the goal of preparing themselves- as well as their communities, companies, and citizens- early and comprehensively for possible opportunities and risks of climate change. The adaptation concept, with a vulnerability analysis and catalogue of measures, is intended for the Kaufbeuren district and independent city as clients as well as for the companies and local authorities belonging to the district. In each case, the adaptation concept contains references to the following fields of action: water management, agriculture, forestry and forest management, nature conservation, soil protection and geo risks, health, disaster control, regional planning, urban development, road construction and transport, energy management, industry and commerce, tourism and finance.

To ensure the acceptance and successful implementation of the climate adaptation concept, the project involves local participants and stakeholders in the concept development. This also serves to make use of locally available knowledge. nexus is responsible for the participation of the various participants and is in charge of the conception, implementation and moderation of several workshops on site.
